I used this humidifier for less than a week before the cheap plastic tank came apart in my hands. The handle is just glued on and cannot support the weight of the tank with water in it. Also the tank drips water everywhere when removed from the base, making it unsuitable for bedroom use.

The electronics are pretty but mostly cause the thing to turn on and off incessantly. Also they are very bright, and that keeps me awake despite the machine being quiet to run.

I’m disappointed in this product, but have yet to find a well-made humidifier anywhere.

I bought this humidifier and received it in the mail a week ago. I needed one for my room to keep my cello and violin from drying out.
I was super excited to put it together, the instructions were easy and direct and I had it up and running in no time at all! First impression: It’s cute!
It was smaller than I expected – it fits perfectly on top of my dresser!
The instructions say to keep it elevated and NOT on carpet. So some might keep that in mind while purchasing one.
When I turned on the mist at full blast I was blown away! I kept it at max for a few days when I realized that there was definitely no need for maximum misting in my room (let’s just say, my room was heavily humidified!). Since then I’ve been keeping it between low and medium and it works just as well!
I had to refill the tank after about 32 hours of it on medium/low.
About, maybe 18 hours on full blast.. I can’t remember. Either way, it’s not an inconvenience to me to have to fill it up every other day or so.
I love this thing and I’m glad I bought it!

This humidifier was such a disappointment, especially since I’ve owned a Crane product before (and was happy with it). This machine was defective, and despite my best efforts to troubleshoot, it is being returned. I filled the tank and followed the directions perfectly, but it never produced any humidity/mist. I spent an embarrasing amount of time with a level (to determine if water flow direction was an issue), I cleaned the nebulizer nozzle (packing dust?), checked the connections, let it dry out and try again. Nope. It just didn’t work. I’ll spend a bit more and get something higher quality.

It was difficult to select my first humidifier after reading all the good/bad reviews on various models. I picked Honeywell after doing research online and speaking to friends.

PROS: Great for occasional use so I don’t really have to refill it much. I only use it for sleeping and prefer the low fan speed which really is quiet. Sturdy and simple design. Price. I didn’t want to spend more than -60. Protek balls are inexpensive and don’t rack up the bill if you use the humidifier less frequently. I prefer the smaller water tank as it’s easier to carry when it’s full. Easy to clean.

CONS: Humidstat doesn’t work well in the bedrooms. The humidifier rarely shuts off when a lower setting is selected. Need to buy a hygrometer to check humidity level. I empty out the whole unit when it’s not in use. It’s very easy to spill water out of the base when you pick it up. Need to be careful that the water tank is sealed properly before usage and that you don’t drop it!

This is the second Honeywell HWM-500 UV Warm Moisture Humidifier we have purchased this year. We were already familiar with the model as it is the exact same machine as the former Slant/Fin Portable Electric Warm Mist Humidifier GF-200.

The Pros: It works. A typical room’s humidity is increased by 5% (during winter typically from 45% to 50%) and you can feel it. We hope and assume the UV germicidal light bulb is killing microorganisms as advertised. Disposable pad filters effectively trap the minerals.

The Cons: It’s noisy, bubbling away like a coffee percolator, but after a while you don’t really notice. Weekly cleaning of the hot water reservoir of mineral scale is a necessary but tedious chore and other plastic parts is difficult.

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this humidifier due to the fact that I had previously purchased two different humidifiers and both of them worked only 1 year. I had paid double the price for them as I did this humidifier. This humidifier works great! It is 10 times better than those I had bought previously. It is as quiet as I would expect and it outputs a lot of moisture into the air. It was exactly what I needed since I live in an environment where the air is very dry in my house in the winter months. I use this humidifier 24 hours/every day in the winter for 5 months straight and it doesn’t miss a beat. I do recommend cleaning as recommended to keep it running smoothly. The items that need to be replaced frequently are very cheap and you can buy them directly through the company or here on amazon. Maintanance on your humidifier is a lot less expensive than buying a new one.

The Honeywell enviracaire HWM910 is the same as the Duracraft DWM250. These humidifiers are cheap and effectively humidify a single room. They are a good way to keep your throat and sinuses from drying out at night. Thanks to a well designed screw-bottom seal, they are one of the easiest humidifiers to refill. The parts are solid enough to last years with proper maintenance. However, the units are cheap enough to toss and replace if your heating element goes after you’ve let 1/4 inch of sediment calcify.

On the high setting, the HWM910 will run through the night while you sleep without running out of water. If you want to keep it running all day, you will have to fill it two and a half times and that will provide the air with 2 1/2 gallons of water moisture. Each tank you fill is 1 gallon of water. You can use distilled water to reduce sediment buildup but it is more economical to use tap water and clean the unit once a week with vinegar and a toothbrush. Cleaning is the most annoying thing about this filter. Mold will grow if you do not clean this unit once a week as well. There are several parts to clean, though the tank usually does not get moldy because the water inside it doesn’t get warm. If you run the unit continuously, you may find you need to clean out mold less often and sediment more often. Ideally, you should let the unit run dry or empty it between uses.

We had a Holmes warm mist that lasted for 12 years and was great. I tried to go gonzo and bought an expensive air-o-swiss ultrasonic. But it had problems in that the filter would restrict water flow into the unit and the auto-shut off would trigger. It would not stay on through the night, even after following the instruction and removing some of the filter material from the filter housing. It was not acceptable, so we returned the air-o-swiss and decided to go back to ole trusty Holmes warm mist. We got the unit home and it was noisy from the start and was getting noisier. Clucking, gurgling, and basically percolating enough to wake us in the morning. I knew something was wrong because our old Holmes was silent. So today we exchanged it for the same unit. It makes some boiling noise on start up, but after about 5 minutes it is silent again. Obviously we had a defective unit, but that was hard for me to understand because the mechanism is so simple. Couldn’t be happier now.

The reservoir cap does not fit on easily because the reservoir itself is poorly designed/manufactured. It has a seam on two sides that runs up through the opening. This makes it very difficult to seat the cap. The company compounds this by making it impossible to replace the reservoir due to their refusal to send to PO boxes.
